Volendam
Volendam is known as a fisherman’s village and is located in the north of the province Holland. The village is kind of an open air museum, where the harbor forms the center of Volendam. Many Dutch people say: ‘you need to walk the Dijk of Volendam at least once in your life’ and that’s definitely true. One of the great things you can do in this village is to take a picture in the traditional costume that Dutch people wore back in the day. This is a cute photo you can show you friends and family when you get back. Another thing you must do when you are in a fisherman’s village, is eat some eel. On every corner of Volendam as well as Marken (another fisherman village) are small fish shops where you can buy some fish and chips and believe me, it’s delicious!
Citytrip
One of the advantages the Netherlands has, is that the country is small. So after viewing these typical cute Dutch places, there is some time left to do a city trip. Depending on the number of cities you want to visit, you should be able to view the most popular cities and their highlights in a mid-week/week.
